Sharing your location using your phone

When cycling one of our events, it's a very good idea to carry your mobile phone with you. This isn't just so you can gather stats on Strava but so you can contact us in the event of a mechanical or medical emergency. In these situations, you must always call the phone numbers provided in the event information document that we send you before the event. You will also find these numbers on the bike number that you get given at the event.

Further to this, you can also use your phone to send us your exact location. This will help us locate you much faster.

Sharing your location using Google Maps

Android Phones

  1. Open the Google Maps app on your phone.
  2. Wait for the phone to centralise your location - if it doesn't do this, tap the circle with a dot in the centre.
  3. Press and hold your location until a drop pin appears.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, either the address or a share button will appear. If the address appears, tap that to proceed to the next step
  5. Tap the Share button. If you don't see this icon, tap the three verticle dots and then select Share. 
  6. Choose the Messages/SMS app to share the link to the map and send it to the relevant number we have provided you with.

iPhone

  1. Open the Google Maps app on your phone.
  2. Wait for the phone to centralise your location - if it doesn't do this, tap the circle with a dot in the centre.
  3. Press and hold your location until a drop pin appears.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, tap the place's name or address.
  5. Tap Share. If you don't see this icon, tap the three horizontal dots and then select Share.
  6. Choose the Messages/SMS app to share the link to the map and send it to the relevant number we have provided you with.

Sharing your location using Apple's Maps for iPhone

  1. Launch the Maps app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap the current location arrow. This will take you to your location on the map, marked by a pulsating blue dot.
  3. Tap the blue dot.
  4. Tap Share My Location.
  5. Tap the Messenger app to send us your location via SMS using the relevant number we have provided you with.
