ABOUT ME        

I’ve never competitively cycled or ‘raced’ as that aspect of the sport doesn’t interest me at all. Instead, the pull of being on the bike has always been about getting outdoors, spinning the legs and having an adventure. I think that’s why I enjoy working for UKCE so much because we’re all about encouraging people to get on their bike, ANY bike, no matter how fancy or rusty it might be and just giving everyone the opportunity to go and explore somewhere new. 

My favourite type of riding is cycle touring or 'bike-packing’ as it’s now known. I’ve had some amazing trips through the countries of Former Yugoslavia, the Baltic States, the Black Forest and not forgetting where I’ve lived the last 10 year, wonderful Wales. Hopefully, at some point at UKCE we’ll be able to bring back Cycle Trips in Europe or even longer multi-day events in the UK as I think these would be tonnes of fun. 

But for now, I’ll always encourage anyone to just get out and ride wherever they can, on whatever bike they have to try and shift the perception of cycling only welcoming those with all the gear and a ’smash fest’ attitude.
