The Yorkshire Classic

Sunday 24 April 2022 | York Auction Centre

Cycling in Yorkshire has been a staple in our sport for many years, partly thanks to the amazing scenery, challenging climbs and beautiful country lanes the county has to offer but, in more recent years, also thanks to the 2014 Tour de France. Since then, it has become somewhat of a cycling mecca.

Starting just outside the walled city of York, our four Yorkshire Classic Sportive routes showcase the glorious areas of both North Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire, making for a fun day in the saddle.

Our Yorkshire Classic Long route takes you up and over enough vertical ascent to give your legs a true taste of the area, whilst our Rook ride, at only 142m of climbing, is perfect for anyone wishing to explore the area for the very first time on two wheels.

The toughest climb of the ride is a short and sharp 1.9km burst with an average of 6.5% as you come out of the village of Leavening. Negotiate that, and the rest involves 'rolling' through the beautiful countryside Yorkshire has to offer.

Of course, you’ll be rewarded for all your efforts as you cross the finish line to receive a finishers medal and other goodies from our partners at Jimmy’s Iced Coffee, OTE Sports and Days.
