UPDATE - 16 Feb 2018: EVENT CANCELLED

We are very sorry to inform you that it has become necessary to cancel the Wiggle Chalky Chaser due to the trail conditions in the area.

One of the prime objectives for all our events is to ensure that participants enjoy the experience in a safe environment, but the outlook for local riding conditions is such that we simply cannot guarantee this. The trails are currently in a poor condition and we have a responsibility to minimise further damage which may jeopardise the future of running this event.

We have been monitoring the condition closely for some weeks and do not feel that they will improve significantly enough for us to run this event. We have therefore decided to cancel now, rather than taking a late decision, which gives you plenty of time to rearrange your plans for that weekend.

All riders are entitled to transfer to any of our 2018 events* the full list is available via the link. Your preference needs to be emailed to us by the end of March 2018 at enquiries@ukcyclingevents.co.uk

*Excludes French events, Velo Club Tickets, MBR Demo Days and No Excuses events.

Should none of these be suitable please let us know at enquiries@ukcyclingevents.co.uk and we will issue a refund.

We appreciate you will find this disappointing but we thank you for your understanding.

Salisbury Race Course sits above a stupendous riding area, rich with a mixture of ancient drove tracks and winding descents and climbs, making the Wiggle Chalky Chaser a perfect Mountain Bike event for any off-road cycling fan.

They say you can't really appreciate the beauty of an area, unless you're sitting on a saddle so this is your chance to experience what the Salisbury area has to offer.

Cycling in Salisbury

As you start out from the event centre, you will cycle along the Old Shaftesbury Drove track, dipping in and out of the valley taking in the wooded wonderland of Knighton Woods. At the first course split, the epic and standard riders continue down the track to drop down into Broad Chalke, a quaint little village about 8-miles west of the city of Salisbury, whilst short route riders head down toward Bishopstone and the feed stop stationed there.

Epic riders will split from the standard route shortly after Broad Chalke to cycle a longer loop of single tracks, steep climbs and peachy descents, with a feed stop sited at Ebbesbourne Wake. It's a good idea to recharge here as a pretty tough climb sits between you and the next feed stop - roughly at the 16-mile mark. Shortly after, at 23-miles, epic riders will approach their second feed stop and re-join the standard and short routes.

All routes then head for home with a couple more challenging 'up and downs' to enjoy, before crossing the finish line to pick up your medal.

The Wiggle Chalky Chaser, named for the chalk plains the routes are sited on, is designed to suit all off-road cycling abilities with the inclusion of three routes. The short route is best suited for those out on a casual ride or beginners, while the epic is certainly tailored to those up for a challenge. One thing's for sure, all three will give you the Salisbury cycling experience and will get the blood pumping.

Fancy helping out at an event?

We always welcome volunteers at our events so if you fancy joining the crew for the day and helping out, please get in touch. You will be rewarded for your efforts and will be able to choose an event to ride for free. If this particular event is fully staffed, you can always put your name down for another event. Key Information

Times and Awards
Times and Awards

Although all our rides are non competitive events (i.e. not races), most people still like to know how well they've done. With this in mind we will time each participants ride. When you complete your ride your time will be calculated and these timings, along with the timing award you achieved, will be displayed on our results page. Each rider will receive a timing award of either; bronze, silver or gold, depending on their average speed. Of course, some riders aren't bothered about all these awards and just cycle for the experience and stunning scenery.
