We’ll set you off just outside of Bournemouth on this ride, which explores the brilliant countryside and surrounding scenery in the counties of Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. Balancing quiet rural roads, outstanding natural beauty and packing in three testing climbs in Win Green, Bulbarrow and Milton Abbas, this all-round sportive offers something for every type of rider.
Crossing over the River Avon and skirting around the western edge of the New Forest, this sportive is not short of scenic sights as you’ll be able to enjoy the panoramic views of distant Somerset from Bulbarrow, Dorset’s highest point, also the model village of Milton Abbas before tackling the climb of the same name – all the while seeing how you fare on North Dorset’s North Downs.
From the edges of the New Forest and onwards, the course remains fairly easy work, until you reach the aforementioned Milton Abbas. After a long, drawn-out build-up, you’ll reach its peak at just under 900ft. Continuing on, the following few miles are undulating and won’t be easy preparation for the next Bulbarrow climb, which follows soon afterwards, and will take you just as high up but from lower down, so will take extra work.
The final push towards the finish line should phase no-one that has successfully completed the most testing climbs of the day, providing a rolling road lead-out to a finisher’s medal, t-shirt and PowerBar recovery product. Surrounding woodland and stunning views make this a testing sportive ideal for anyone looking for a mid-season challenge.
