It's important we all stay mentally and physically fit now more than ever. With this in mind, we want to help you #StayinandRide by launching the Peaks Tour virtual challenge. We're all disappointed not to be riding sportives but indoor miles can be fun too!
The challenge is to ride 150-miles during the month of May.
Simply sign up, complete the challenge, upload proof of your miles* and we’ll reward your effort with a downloadable personalised certificate and bespoke medal.
All you need is a standard turbo trainer, Bluetooth sensors, your smartphone or tablet and to download a fitness companion app.
There are two entry options available:
Option 1: £10 entry - you get a personalised certificate and a bespoke medal
Option 2: £5 entry - you get a personalised certificate only
£2 from every entry will be donated to our charity partner Alzheimer’s Research UK to help raise vital funds for their pioneering dementia research.
Entry closes on 31st May 2020. Please submit your proof of completion by 10pm 5th June. All entries will be collated and verified the following week - week commencing 8th June. If you have submitted your proof and it checks out, we will send you an email with a link to your certificate.
This challenge can be completed both indoors or outdoors. Outdoor miles should be accumulated while adhering to the Government social distancing guidelines. Our advice is to spend no longer than an hour riding once a day and the ride should take place locally to your home.
*Proof of miles will need to consist of a URL to an online profile such as Strava, Garmin, Ride With GPS or similar or, if your profile is private, a URL to an image of your profile page showing proof of your mileage throughout the month. You can upload images to Facebook, for example, and send us the URL to that image. After you have entered the challenge, we will send you an email with instructions on how to send us the URL.
If you want to take part but do not have the technology to record your mileage or do not have an online fitness companion/tracker you can simply record your mileage in a spreadsheet or on paper, take a photo of it and email to us.
Please note: Virtual events are excluded from the free SiS gel bundle offer. Achievements will be verified at the end of the challenge month. Medals will be dispatched when we are allowed to return to our offices. For more information on our current operation regarding Coronavirus, please visit our latest Coronavirus update.
If you are unsure of what turbo trainer or sensors you need to #StayinandRide, we have a list of different setups you might want to consider over on our Zwift meet up page. You don't need to Zwift to complete this challenge but the other links will help you get what you need.
By submitting your information, you will be subscribing the UK Cycling Events Newsletter. The Newsletter will be sent to you via email.
