EVENT POSTPONED: UPDATED 1 MAY 2020
It is with great sadness that we have today made the difficult but responsible decision to postpone this event, due to the ongoing situation regarding the Coronavirus.
We have continued to monitor government guidelines and therefore based on the latest information and in the interest of staff safety, rider safety, and putting the greater needs of the wider community at the forefront, it’s the most responsible thing to do. We ask for your patience while we evaluate the next steps in this ever-changing situation. We will aim to be in touch with you again via email regarding the ride credit, transfer or refund options available, during the week commencing 4th May 2020.
We hope you are all keeping well, and thank everyone for their support during this very difficult period, we can't wait to be back up and running again delivering the events that we all know you love.
From all at UK Cycling Events.
The Peak District is well known for providing some of the very best cycling in the UK and is steeped in riding history - participants of the Peaks Tour Sportive won't be disappointed. With three new routes for 2020, this event takes in the very best of the Peak District National Park and its breathtaking beauty, offering a ride to suit most cyclists abilities. Riders will experience challenging climbs, rolling descents and views that make all the effort worth it.
Heading out from the Bakewell Showground, it doesn’t take long before the first serious climb of the day presents itself as you’ll haul up the hills to get through the historic village of Eyam via Grindleford and Sir William Hill Road, soon moving into Hope Valley. From here the routes push out further north to take on the iconic Mam Tor, which will be a test for any rider.
The next couple of climbs are kinder, at least. They’ll take you up to around the same elevation gain, but they’re more drawn out and less steep. You might prefer a briefer and harsher climb, but there’s no escaping them either way, battling the gradient through Whaley Bridge and beyond.
A final push through to the highest peak of the ride will take you through Burbage and past Macclesfield Forest. From here on in, the hills don’t let up and you’ll tackle constant elevations and drops along the way. The final sting – but by no means the last climb – comes just outside Thorncliffe as you head back to base.
The Peaks Tour Sportive isn’t for the faint-hearted, make no mistake, but you’ll savour completing this tough test for some time to come. It is truly an amazing route!
Post-ride you will be greeted by our welcoming team, where you will have the opportunity to relax, unwind, and socialise with like-minded riding buddies. This is set to be a spectacular summer event that you’ll be bragging about for days after.
Featured Climb: Mam Tor
The Peaks Tour Sportive takes riders up Mam Tor - a category 3 listed climb. With a gradient of 15.6% at the steepest point, the climb is a challenging one and will take some stamina to reach the top. The average gradient comes in at 10% over the 1.3-mile distance and has an elevation gain of 700ft. Fastest times up the climb are listed as 06:14 and 08:21for KOM and QOM respectively. It might be a testing climb but the views make it well worth the effort.

Times and Awards
Times and Awards
Although all our rides are non competitive events (i.e. not races), most people still like to know how well they've done. With this in mind we will time each participants ride. When you complete your ride your time will be calculated and these timings, along with the timing award you achieved, will be displayed on our results page. Each rider will receive a timing award of either; bronze, silver or gold, depending on their average speed. Of course, some riders aren't bothered about all these awards and just cycle for the experience and stunning scenery.
What our customers say about us
I would just like to say a big thank you to all the marshals and support mechanics on the Wattbike Falkirk Ride on Sunday; the guys were absolutely amazing. We had several issues en route including punctures, cramps, a crash and ever-decreasing morale, but these guys supported us right to the bitter end and got us through the epic course. I have never attended such a well-organised event; even the signage was spot on. So well done and thank you!
Well organised, great routes and good support leads to excellence bike rides.
Brilliantly organised event! I'm very new to cycling and did this event on my own but still chatted to lots of people and had a great day! Would definitely recommend UKCE to everyone! To top it off it was a lovely warm day in the beautiful New Forest! Excellent
Just completed the Eye up in Rippon the Standard absolutely brilliant well organised and good signage. Have done a few e events this year. 2020 I will be in my 80th year so looking forward to taking part in UK Cycling Events.
well organised event. The new forest route was stunning with beautiful wild life on the way
I went on the Box Hill sportive. It was a very well organized event, with marshals at the busiest junctions and signage at every junction, plus feed stations. There was a proper start/finish line with chip timing. The route was downloadable in advance as a .gpx file. Very nice scenery in the surrey hills area of outstanding natural beauty.
I completed the Ay Up Yorkshire this weekend. The EPIC course was my first 100mile ride, and I really enjoyed the challenge. The big climbs are close enough to home to give them another go!
Really well-organised, excellent course signs, and great to see medical support available out one the course.😀👍
Did the Watt Bike 40 mile Sportive today, had a lovely time. Great route on quiet roads with challenging hills, all well signposted and a lovely atmosphere. The marshalls & staff deserve a special thank you for standing out for hours in truly gruesome weather. The feed station was well stocked with all needs catered for, the bike wash stocked up with Muc-off products and the soup at the end were the icing on the cake. Southwell racecourse had brilliant facilities. Shame about the weather being freezing cold & sooo wet but totally worth it, had a lot of fun. Thank you to all involved.
Had one amazing experience. My first 100 miles on the bike in amazing route, friendly staff. Really recommend UK cycling events. Can not wait for the next one.
A great day out with great staff and well planned.
