Starting from the grounds of the splendid Somerley House estate, The New Forest Spring Sportive offers three stunning Hampshire routes, catering for all abilities of cyclist, presenting the opportunity to experience the very best of New Forest Cycling. Whilst the short route is perfect for those new to cycling sportives, the epic and standard routes offer the more experienced rider a great early season challenge.
The New Forest Spring runs on both a Saturday and Sunday. Now in its 11th year, this cycling event is one of our most popular rides of the year and has become a welcome start-of-season test for many cyclists.
As you ride and take in the views of the rolling scenery, there will be a number of hills to challenge your legs – plus a test to come near the end – with short and sharp climbs popping up every now and again to keep you on your toes. Beautiful New Forest villages of Sway, Beaulieu and Lepe are passed through before you head north and back into the centre of the district.
Quickly in and out of Lyndhurst at the halfway point, you’ll soon take on the events major climb of the day, just outside Nomansland. It’s steep, but fairly short, so you should be able to dispose of this quickly and continue on your way. From here, it’s downhill all the way – with one spiky hill exception around Stuckton and the final feed stop – as you roll back around the edges of the Forest, towards Ringwood, and claim your medal at the finish line.
The New Forest Spring offers more than just a ride out on your bike, too. When you return from your scenic journey through Hampshire’s finest forest, you can choose from a selection of options in our food village, grab a post-ride pint from the beer tent and chill in the sunshine listening to great tunes from the band.
There's plenty to see and do at the venue and is the perfect place to bring your friends or family, so why not make a weekend of it?

Payment can be made with cash or cheque. You can fill out an entry form when you arrive at the event. One entry form must be completed per person.
Although all our rides are non competitive events (i.e. not races), most people still like to know how well they've done. With this in mind we will time each participants ride. When you complete your ride your time will be calculated and these timings, along with the timing award you achieved, will be displayed on our results page. Each rider will receive a timing award of either; bronze, silver or gold, depending on their average speed. Of course, some riders aren't bothered about all these awards and just cycle for the experience and stunning scenery.
SportivePhoto will be taking pictures of all riders at this event. Please visit www.sportivephoto.com once you have taken part in the event to view your photos!

Just completed the Eye up in Rippon the Standard absolutely brilliant well organised and good signage. Have done a few e events this year. 2020 i will be in my 80th year so looking forward to taking part in UK Cycling Events .
I would just like to say a big thank you to all the marshals and support mechanics on the Wattbike Falkirk Ride on Sunday; the guys were absolutely amazing. We had several issues en route including punctures, cramps, a crash and ever-decreasing morale, but these guys supported us right to the bitter end and got us through the epic course. I have never attended such a well-organised event; even the signage was spot on. So well done and thank you!
Did the Watt Bike 40 mile Sportive today, had a lovely time. Great route on quiet roads with challenging hills, all well signposted and a lovely atmosphere. The marshalls & staff deserve a special thank you for standing out for hours in truly gruesome weather. The feed station was well stocked with all needs catered for, the bike wash stocked up with Muc-off products and the soup at the end were the icing on the cake. Southwell racecourse had brilliant facilities. Shame about the weather being freezing cold & sooo wet but totally worth it, had a lot of fun. Thank you to all involved.
Had one amazing experience. My first 100 miles on the bike in amazing route, friendly staff. Really recommend UK cycling events. Can not wait for the next one.
Brilliantly organised event! I'm very new to cycling and did this event on my own but still chatted to lots of people and had a great day! Would definitely recommend UKCE to everyone! To top it off it was a lovely warm day in the beautiful New Forest! Excellent
well organised event. The new forest route was stunning with beautiful wild life on the way
superb organisation and in ride support. The New Forest event was the besr organised event I completed in 2019
A great day out with great staff and well planned.
I went on the Box Hill sportive. It was a very well organized event, with marshals at the busiest junctions and signage at every junction, plus feed stations. There was a proper start/finish line with chip timing. The route was downloadable in advance as a .gpx file. Very nice scenery in the surrey hills area of outstanding natural beauty.
Well organised, great routes and good support leads to excellence bike rides.
