EVENT POSTPONED: UPDATED 1 MAY 2020

It is with great sadness that we have today made the difficult but responsible decision to postpone this event, due to the ongoing situation regarding the Coronavirus.
We have continued to monitor government guidelines and therefore based on the latest information and in the interest of staff safety, rider safety, and putting the greater needs of the wider community at the forefront, it’s the most responsible thing to do. We ask for your patience while we evaluate the next steps in this ever-changing situation. We will aim to be in touch with you again via email regarding the ride credit, transfer or refund options available, during the week commencing 4th May 2020.
We hope you are all keeping well, and thank everyone for their support during this very difficult period, we can't wait to be back up and running again delivering the events that we all know you love.

Sportives don't get much more stunning than this ride through the Mendips Hills. Consistently voted as one of the best locations for cycling in the UK, the route dips into Cheddar Gorge which possesses a beauty, and a climb, that will take your breath away.

Starting just outside Glastonbury, this route takes you through spectacular Somerset, first heading north through a series of sheltered back lanes across the River Axe. The Mendips sportive starts completely flat and stays that way for much of the ride, but there are a handful of major climbs thrown in for good measure – what else would you expect in a land littered with so many beautiful gorges?

Your first test will come around 15 miles in, and the small village of Wells as a passing point to flag the climb’s start. You’ll take in just under 850ft of ascending in a short space of time – there’s no hiding the fact that this is steep. The views are worth it, though, and once you’ve reached the top you can afford to sit back and roll through the next few miles, taking in the incredible natural scenery as you go.

The next test won’t come for a while yet, as the route feeds through a series of secluded Somerset villages. Eventually, you’ll pass through Coley, which is the final flat point before the next climb, which will take you higher than the last major one but doesn’t take as much input, as you’ll have started from a hill-top position.

Soon enough, it’s time to take in Cheddar Gorge in all its glory – but will mean another major climb! Make sure you've fuelled up before you pedal your way up the winding roads to the top. As you pass through the gorge, try and take a look around as not to miss the impressive scenery towering over you. It's really rather spectacular! Once you’ve taken on Cheddar Gorge, it’s plain sailing back to ride HQ.

While the Mendips Sportive can be considered tough - the Standard route has some great climbs to tackle, including Cheddar Gorge - those with elevation phobia can always opt for our Short route. It might not take you through Cheddar but it is still equally beautiful and rewarding.

  • I completed the Ay Up Yorkshire this weekend. The EPIC course was my first 100mile ride, and I really enjoyed the challenge. The big climbs are close enough to home to give them another go! Really well-organised, excellent course signs, and great to see medical support available out one the course.😀👍

  • Superb organisation and in ride support. The New Forest event was the best-organised event I completed in 2019

  • Did the Watt Bike 40 mile Sportive today, had a lovely time. Great route on quiet roads with challenging hills, all well signposted and a lovely atmosphere. The marshalls & staff deserve a special thank you for standing out for hours in truly gruesome weather. The feed station was well stocked with all needs catered for, the bike wash stocked up with Muc-off products and the soup at the end were the icing on the cake. Southwell racecourse had brilliant facilities. Shame about the weather being freezing cold & sooo wet but totally worth it, had a lot of fun. Thank you to all involved.

  • Well organised, great routes and good support leads to excellence bike rides.

  • I would just like to say a big thank you to all the marshals and support mechanics on the Wattbike Falkirk Ride on Sunday; the guys were absolutely amazing. We had several issues en route including punctures, cramps, a crash and ever-decreasing morale, but these guys supported us right to the bitter end and got us through the epic course. I have never attended such a well-organised event; even the signage was spot on. So well done and thank you!
