The Sell-out Wight Ferry Sportive returns for its fourth year this year. This sportive offers an ultimate day of riding packed full of unique experiences, breath-taking vistas and stunning scenery.
With 2 ferry crossings, 2 stunning sections in the New Forest National Park, a circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight and finally topped off with an ice cream to celebrate your ride at the finish!
There are two route options to choose from: the Epic 100 mile route and the Standard 75 mile route. Both routes do a lap of the Isle of Wight but the Standard route has a shorter New Forest section. If you only want to cycle the island route then take a look at the Wiggle All Wight Sportive that takes place on the same days. The event kicks off in the iconic New Forest National Park from Gang Warily Recreation Centre.
Riders will set off on the first leg of the sportive which sweeps south through the flattish forest allowing legs to warm up. It passes through picturesque villages before arriving at Lymington ferry terminal, where riders report to a timing station. Here, the timers will be stopped and riders will have plenty of time to take on some food. Riders will board the next ferry, cross the Solent and arrive on the Isle of Wight. Individual ride times will start again for the 2nd part of the sportive around the sensational Isle of Wight. The route will head clockwise around the island and stay on quiet roads.
The island section is the hilliest of the 3 sections; the route passes over the central downs on the island before returning via the southern coastal roads with their amazing coastline vistas! Back at Yarmouth, the timers will be stopped again while riders enjoy an ice cream and wait for the next ferry back to the mainland. The final leg takes place back in the flatter New Forest National Park. Riders will enjoy this area of outstanding natural beauty one more time before they cross the finish line at Gang Warily Recreation Centre.
A finishers’ medal, massages, food and entertainment will be waiting for all riders. Note – Ferry ticket includes foot passenger and bike on the day of the event only.
We ask all riders to read and observe the New Forest Cycling Code: www.newforestnpa.gov.uk/cycling-code
Epic & Standard course riders will travel on different ferries. Please read the pre-information pack thoroughly to understand what time you need to register & start.
It is very important you board the correct ferry for your ride or it could mean you miss out.
